  • In-Person Tutor Training Watertown
    Help an Adult Learn to Read Better!
    If you love to read, share that love with an adult who struggles with literacy skills. Our tutor training course will teach you about phonics, word patterns, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and fluency. After completing the course, participants are matched with an adult who needs help. Students and tutors meet in public places such as libraries for an hour or two each week. People taking this course must attend orientation, basic reading 1 & 2, and successful tutoring.
    Help an Adult Speak English Better!
    For those who enjoy multiculturalism,  learn how to empower English language learners to navigate the community. The training emphasizes speaking & pronunciation, asking for information, health issues, vocabulary, greetings, building confidence and fluency, grammar, and some writing. You do not need to speak another language. People taking this course must attend Orientation, ESL 1 & 2, and successful tutoring.
    Time for each session: 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
    Orientation: Tuesday, October 15
    Basic Reading 1: Thursday, October 17
    Basic Reading 2: Tuesday, October 22
    ESL 1: Thursday, October 24
    ESL 2: Tuesday, October 29
    Successful Tutoring: Thursday, October 31
